The Emergency Simulation Program (ESP)
Straylight Multimedia is pleased to present a revolution in Emergency Training
ESP is a sophisticated training system specially designed to create and present multimedia simulations for Emergency and Disaster training. ESP training simulations allow groups of trainees to 'act out' roles in a simulated emergency scenario, providing them with important training experience that could otherwise only be obtained on the job, where mistakes can be very costly.

ESP is particularly ideal for training in areas presenting high stress and demanding snap decision-making, such as:
-
- Incident Command
- Forest Fire Fighting
- Oil or Chemical Spill Response
- Earthquake Response
- Law Enforcement
-
- Municipal Fire Fighting
- Hazardous Materials Handling
- Military Training
- Response to Terrorist Attack
and, in general, any situation where on-the-job training is difficult, dangerous, or expensive to implement.
- Multimedia Components (Digital Video, Digital Audio, Graphics) - Create simulations with a high degree of realism, incorporating multiple senses (ie. visual, audio).
- File Storage of Individual Simulations - Create an endless number of unique simulation 'databases' and save them as files. You can then read in any file later to use in running new simulations.
- Picture-Icon Based Navigation - Present seamless, dynamic 'movies' in which outcomes vary according to decisions made by the trainees.
- Dynamic Run-Time Clock - Run simulations in a 'simulated' time frame, 'speeding up' or 'slowing down' time as desired. You can even change the time on the fly.
- Launch External Applications - Incorporate map programs, fire growth models, spreadsheets, browsers, into a Simulation.
- Session Recording - Keep track of the 'path' of a particular simulation. You can also include notes on the simulation and students involved. You can even 'replay' a given simulation to point out areas where the trainees might have made a better decision.
Features/Benefits | (top)
- Trained Personnel: Simulations allow you to create an alternative to hands on experience and keep your personnel trained to their peak efficiency.
- Elimination of Risks to Safety: People learn from their mistakes. In fact, allowing trainees to make mistakes and experience the consequences of those mistakes is a powerful teaching technique. The ESP Simulator provides an environment where 'mistakes' can be made that result in only simulated damage.
- Cost Effective Training: Trainers can create their own customized simulations. Using video, audio, and graphics from real Emergency events, they can create powerful, convincing simulations to re-produce scenarios that would be prohibitively expensive, dangerous, environmentally damaging, or even physically impossible to re-create in reality.
- Realism: Through the role player's interaction the system provides sights and sounds emulating real life events.
