The Emergency Simulation Program (ESP)

Launching External Applications

It is sometimes desirable to 'launch' an external application to complement an ESP scenario. A good example of the usefulness of this feature is in wildfire simulations, where the user might want to incorporate a computer-generated 'fire growth' Model into a training session.

ESP provides a simple and intuitive method for specifying and launching an external application as part of an overall training scenario. The application to be launched can be specified in the Edit Mode then, in playback, launched and removed at any time remotely from the ESP console.

The launching and removal of the application is done simply with the press of a button.

The running External Application can be shown or hidden, or killed and re-launched, by the Simulation Manager during a session. Control of a running External Application is done through the Application Launch Control Dialog.
